General information

Ships destined for Dutch ports are piloted by Dutch marine pilots. If it is not possible for a pilot to board the vessel at sea, the ship can be directed onto Vlissingen roads by means of shore based pilotage (LOA), if that ship satisfies the legal requirements. The pilot that then boards the vessel will take it to its destined port of call.
